How to design electric vehicles (Lab)
Prerequisites: Engineering background.
Load: 9 A.M. - 12 P.M. on Jan. 9, 11, 13, 18, 20 (Five 3-hour sessions over two weeks).
Time Outside Class: None required. Recommended to take along with lecture class with the same title.
This series of labs is designed to accompany the lecture series with the same title. While lectures can be attended as individual sessions, participants in the labs must attend all sessions. The lab is a smaller class size, hands-on and covers motors, motor controllers, speed controllers, batteries and vehicle systems. The labs will explore general electric vehicle technologies using lithium-ion batteries and small electric vehicles such as electric scooters and skateboards (which the students will take apart, reassemble and ride). Note: extra hours in the evenings will be needed to complete labs (outside the scheduled time).
